‘La Mesías’, the Movistar Plus+ original series in collaboration with Suma Content, written, directed and produced by Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo, has just completed its first phase of filming and reveals new cast members.
The series began filming on 16 August in Catalonia and a second phase will begin in early 2023. Its creators take stock of this first stage.
Javier Ambrossi: “We have just finished shooting the first block of ‘La Mesías’ and we are already editing the early episodes with Alberto Gutiérrez, who we have been working with since ‘Paquita Salas’. We shot everything in the past, which was in the 80s and 90s, in 16 mm. The present day footage is digital. Now, in the editing process, we are really enjoying the mixture of textures“.
Javier Calvo: “The break in filming comes in handy now so that we can start the editing and reset, to get ready for this second part, to finish outlining the scripts and allow some of the actresses to make the physical changes necessary for their characters. It has been a privilege to have shared this first part of the journey with such a wonderful cast and we are very much looking forward to continuing“.
Roger Casamajor, Macarena García, Lola Dueñas, Carmen Machi, Ana Rujas, Albert Pla, Amaia, Biel Rossell and Cecilia Roth head up the cast of this family thriller that deals with overcoming trauma, faith as a tool to fill the void, and art as the only escape from terror. In addition to the outstanding cast, other actresses are joining the series: Nora Navas, Gracia Olayo, Aixa Villagrán, Carla Díaz, Betsy Túrnez, Ángeles Ortega, Mari Paz Sayago and Rossy de Palma.
