Rui Cardoso Martins
Rui Cardoso Martins was born in Portalegre in 1967. He is a writer, scriptwriter and chronicler.
He is author of the novels “E Se Eu Gostasse Muito de Morrer” (2006), “Deixem Passar o Homem Invisível” (2009, Grand Prix of Romance and Novel APE), “Se Fosse Fácil Era Para Os Outros” (2012) and “O Ossos da Borboleta” (2014).
He was a journalist in the early days of the Portuguese newspaper Público and chronicler with two Gazeta awards of journalism for “Levante-se o Réu”.
He was co-founder of the company Produções Fictícias and co-creator and author of the historic humorous TV shows “Contra-Informação”.
Scriptwriter of “Zona J” and Fernando Lopes’ last film “Em Câmara Lenta”. Author of the script for the film “A Herdade”, co-written and directed by Tiago Guedes, that was selected for the official competition at the 2019 Venice Film Festival and the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival.
Co-author of the script for the criminal series “South” (2019), created by Edgar Medina and Guilherme Mendonça and directed by Ivo M. Ferreira. Portuguese Film Academy Sophia award for Best Fictional Series. Portuguese Society of Authors award for Best Fictional Program.
His work has been translated into several languages.
