He starts working in TV, in the series Compañeros, for Antena 3. After a short journey on several different TV series, he changes to feature films with Daniel Sánchez Arévalo, for the film Azul Oscuro casi negro. Afterwards, he co-starred in the film El Camino de los Ingleses, directed by Antonio Banderas, and that led him to star in ¿Por qué se frotan las patitas? by Alvaro Begines, Los Girasoles ciegos by José L. Cuerda (with Maribel Verdú and Javier Cámara), and Gordos, also with Daniel Sánchez Arévalo. He was awarded a Goya prize for the best supporting actor with that last film. Later on, he participated in Primos, by the same director, and was nominated for best actor in the Goya prizes in 2011. In 2012, he starred in Promoción Fantasma, by Javier Ruiz, and returned to television to co-star in the series Con el culo al aire, for Antena 3. On that same year, he also co-starred in Los amantes pasajeros by Pedro Almodóvar. In 2012, he starred with Javier Cámara in La Vida Inesperada, by Jorge Torregrosa, Murieron por encima de sus posibilidades, by Isaki Lacuesta, El Negociador, by Borja Cobeaga and El club de los incomprendidos by Carlos Sedes.
In January 2015, he worked in Las ovejas no pierden el tren, by Álvaro Fernández Armero and La isla minima, by Alberto Rodríguez, Cien años de perdón by Daniel Calparsoro, ORO, directed by Agustín D. Yáñez, and the TV series La embajada, for Antena 3. He also participated in the series Antidisturbios, directed by Sorogoyen for Movistar, and was awarded the prize for the best TV actor in 2021.
He starred in the film El lodo (premiered in December 2021) and Donde caben dos. He just finished the series Santo for Netflix (August 2021).
He directed the successful feature film Tarde para la ira, awarded with three Goyas, including best new director and best script.
In 2017, he starred in the film El aviso, directed by Daniel Calparsoro, as well as Mi obra maestra, by Gaston Duprat, shot in Argentina, and Ola de crímenes, by Gracia Querejeta.
He was awarded by the Royal Spanish Academy with the Borau prize for the best script in 2018.
In theater, he has starred in Neron at the International Festival of Mérida.
