Rafa Montesinos
Rafa Montesinos is a Spanish film director born in Valencia in 1969 in the home of a photographer’s family. He grew up surrounded by photographic cameras of both medium format and universal standard. At first Montesinos had it as a hobby, he didn’t want to dedicate himself to this, but after high school he decided to study what then was knew as image and photography. He left the classes, because he didn’t feel motivated about it, he wanted to practice and decided to enter the world of audiovisual. He started in a humble way sweeping on sets, going to the editing rooms, he wanted to learn and see how the professionals worked, learn from them and empathize with the jobs of all the departments, because in some way he could know all the essence of the profession.
He entered in the fiction as a camera operator and editor. Later he directed many corporative videos and some publicitys. Afterwards Montesinos will direct three short films in 35mm, with them he won several awards including Berlanga Best Director and Cartelera Award also Best Director.
After his first short films he make two TV movies called “Colores” and “La princesa del polígono”, the last one in co-production with RAI, TV3 and CANAL NOU, also this TV movie was semifinalist in the EMI awards and won in the Gaudi Awards as Best TV movie and The Critic Award in the Malaga’s Festival.
He will begin to film many national series, the first one was “Herederos”. After this one will follow more than twenty titles among the last, we can highlight “Perdóname Señor” and “Secretos de Estado” both by Tele5, “El Continental” by TVE1, “Perdida” by Atresmedia Studios, “La Caza, Monteperdido” by TVE1, “Parot” Amazon, and the newest “El Inmortal” by Movistar+.
