Justin Melland
Award winning film composer and multi-instrumentalist, Justin Melland primarily works in the demanding world of film and television, creating refreshingly inventive scores at his studio The Eleventh Laboratory, in Los Angeles, California. Justin has enjoyed working with many highly respected, award winning directors. Twice his work with Dan Krauss has been nominated for an Academy Award.
First was The HBO Documentary Films: “The Death of Kevin Carter: Casuality of the Bang Bang Club” in 2006, and again for the Netflix Original Documentary : “Extremis” in 2016. Justin has also worked along side Oscar winning director Paul Haggis and Dan Krauss scoring their film “5B” (World Premiere Cannes, 2019), and Oscar winning director Alex Gibney scoring his series for National Geographic called “Parched” along with it’s companion feature “Water and Power”.
The Melland-scored film “In Football we Trust” won an Emmy Award in 2017. Recently, Justin scored both seasons of the “Starz” Original Series “Wrong Man” and the massive Netflix hit series: “Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes” with two time Emmy Award winning director Joe Berlinger. Justin has also worked with Berlinger on his 4 part Netflix series Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich and has also recently completed scoring the main titles, and 3 full episodes of the Netflix Original series “The Innocence Files created by Oscar Nominee Liz Garbus, and Oscar winner Alex Gibney.
Justin’s most recent release has been to score the #1 Netflix Original series “Sons of Sam: A Decent into Darkness” for Radical Media with Sara Enright and Joshua Zeman.
