JAVIER CALVO AND JAVIER AMBROSSI
Actors, directors and producers, Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi have been considered by mass media as two of the most influential young showrunners nowadays. Their work is full of emotion, humor, color, music, diversity and LGTBIQ+ awareness.
With their HBO Max coproduction Veneno, based on the life of the Trans Icon Cristina Ortiz, they reached international recognition. It is part of the 2020’s Best TV Series of the Year of The New Yorker and Variety, and has received the endorsement of Madonna and Ellen DeGeneres, among other global trendsetters.
The press and the awards have also prized their work. Apart from the super laureate Veneno, they are winners of an Ondas Awards, three Feroz and a Silver Fotogramas, and also nominated for the Goya Awards for Best New Director and Best Adapted Screenplay.
Besides Veneno, they created the theatrical musical Holy Camp!, and the Netflix Original Paquita Salas for three seasons. As producers of the series Cardo, they vindicate imperfection and show the true portrait of the 90s generation. Their projects connect with the audience and reflect a highly entertaining but solid analysis of the actual society.
